Diary Free Caramel Sauce

Quick, easy, and made with just 5 ingredients, this recipe is perfect for our baby Ice cream Sandwich! The taste and texture resemble traditional caramel, but without the butter. So, get ready to satisfy your caramel cravings!



  • 1/2 cup Olive Oil-based butter/Margarine
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup agave nectar (or maple syrup)
  • 1/3 cup Diary Free milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)


  1. In a medium pot, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Once melted, add the light brown sugar and whisk until fully incorporated.
  2. Attach a candy thermometer to the pot or keep one ready to hold. Ensure that the thermometer does not touch the bottom of the pan.
  3. Whisk in the agave nectar and milk. Bring the mixture to a boil and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the candy thermometer reaches 112°C (about 10-15 minutes).
  4. Remove the pan from heat and stir in sea salt and optional vanilla extract until uniform.
  5. Pour the caramel into container. Allow it to cool.
