Try our take on a homemade classic ‘red onion and tomato relish’.  Posh and ever so delicious you will be having your party guess crying for the recipe.  Mouth watering and the perfect accompaniment with our Plant-based Sausage Rolls.   


1 Tablespoon Olive oil

1 large or 2 small red onions, finely chopped and peeled

4 garlic cloves, grated

1kg tomatoes

3 Tbsp dark brown sugar

1 1/2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar

1 1/2 Tbsp cornflour

Salt & pepper to taste

Spicy Version (optional)  

3 tsp curry powder

2 tsp of mustard powder


 Place pot on stovetop, set to medium heat add olive oil and fry the onions until soft and translucent.

Add the garlic and fry for another 2-3 minutes.

Add the chopped tomatoes, sugar (for spicy version add curry and mustard powders)

mix cornflour with balsamic vinegar to form a smooth paste, add and stir

Reduce the temperature to very low heat and simmer for another 40 minutes.

Season to taste

Blend on low for 1 min in food processor and serve
