Diary Free Caramel Sauce
Quick, easy, and made with just 5 ingredients, this recipe is perfect for our baby Ice cream Sandwich! The taste and texture resemble traditional caramel, but without the butter. So, get ready to satisfy your caramel cravings!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Olive Oil-based butter/Margarine
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup agave nectar (or maple syrup)
- 1/3 cup Diary Free milk
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium pot, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Once melted, add the light brown sugar and whisk until fully incorporated.
- Attach a candy thermometer to the pot or keep one ready to hold. Ensure that the thermometer does not touch the bottom of the pan.
- Whisk in the agave nectar and milk. Bring the mixture to a boil and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the candy thermometer reaches 112°C (about 10-15 minutes).
- Remove the pan from heat and stir in sea salt and optional vanilla extract until uniform.
- Pour the caramel into container. Allow it to cool.
